Solo Performance is proud to announce our 5th Generation Camaro V8 Automatic stainless steel Mach XL with J-Pipes converter back exhaust kit. This is a 100% BOLT-ON kit. We have worked long and hard at perfecting this exhaust kit. It offers is a deep, rich, Raw American Muscle sound on the outside. This exhaust kit sounds like a well done 60’s muscle car on the outside while being very tame on the inside, the difference is staggering.
Solo Performance takes customer satisfaction very seriously. We have had many wonderful reviews over the last few years in regards to our first design Mach XL cat back exhaust system. We have also had the occasional complaint about highway drone. Mixed reviews are very concerning to us and the difference from one Camaro to the next is puzzling. We have been waiting to come across a V8 Auto that sounds bad with our exhaust kit on it and about a month ago we did. It’s incredible how the same Solo kit sounds great on one car and disappointing on another. Once the fine line between “good” and “bad” is crossed the “bad” definitely stands out.
We went to work on this car using some of our latest J-Pipe technology, which we use on several other cars including the V6 Camaro. Just as we had hoped, our current Mach XL exhaust kit with the addition of our properly tunes J-Pipes cancels out all of the unwanted frequencies. There is no hint of a highway or in town drone. The 8cyl to 4cyl transition is smooth and non-invasive mean while the 4cyl mode on its own is pleasant with a bit of gurgle. We were ecstatic to get the 4cyl mode by itself to sound as good as it does considering it’s going through free flow, dual, 2 ½” mandrel bent exhaust.
The 8cyl mode offers a deep, rich, Raw American Muscle tone that was meant for a car like this. Mean and fierce on the outside while tame on the inside is what Solo’s Mach XL with J-Pipes exhaust kit is all about.

We appreciate your confidence and support in choosing our product. We want you to know that if you’re not 100% happy with your current Mach-XL exhaust kit, we haven’t forgotten about you.
The only difference in our latest design kit is the addition of the J-Pipes which consist of four T304 band clamps, 2 J pipes and 2 adjustable end caps. If you would like to purchase these J-Pipes we are only looking to cover some of our costs and we could ship them to you for $85 a pair.
A shop would have to line up the J’s and mark where to cut the hole. After the hole is cut into your existing tail pipe, the J-Pipe would have to be welded on. If you live close to one of our stores (Buffalo to Toronto) we would be happy to do the install for the same $85.
Well… I just got back from Solo Performance in Mississauga where I spent the day with Jeff and his crew as they tested and tweaked their Axle-back system.
I drove there with my XXXXX Cat-back system but that’s not what’s on the car now! It’s Solo’s system!!! Unbelievable difference. Someone asked earlier whether the test car had headers….no…..but it sure sounds like it does now!!!
There is no conventional drone at all after they worked their magic tuning their J-Pipes. With the L99, still with the factory tune, the AFM/DOD effects are still present but the tone is not nearly as offensive as with the XXXXX system. In all likelihood I’ll opt for tuning the AFM/DOD option out for gears 1-4 as others have done. Anyone interested in this product will NOT be disappointed!
The car won’t be gleaming like all those currently sitting under their covers right now (my car is a daily driver and we had some snow this morning and the roads were a mess) but it’s the sound you’re going to want to hear! We also put on their MACH-XL Cat-back system with J-Pipes, and you’ll hear clips of that also. With both set-ups the interior was very quiet, unlike outside the car when you stand on it!
The tone is deep and rich. I just hope that the clips posted will do the system justice, as I know that some sound clips do not necessarily give an accurate representation.
All I can say is WOW… Best 1/2 tank of gas I’ve burned in a long time !!!!!
